Does it have a dustwrapper, and who actually published it? Was it Crime Club by Collins?
I do believe that from recent discussion that the 3rd impression was 1941. I would imagine that this is clearly stated. Even if a second impression is printed in 1939 books indicate the differing months of printing at times.
So provided the Crime Club did not mislead you, as it does some, into suspecting you only had a book club copy. Then if the book still states just 1939, you could be in luck; provided the condition is very good.
Of course should you have the dustwrapper, that would clinch it, if it were not price cut..... as the first edition should have 7s 6d on it. (Seven shillings and six pence)....(Just 38 new pence now, but 41 years ago could get you quite an investment).

The first edition was published by Collins Crime Club. Without a jacket it could be worth between £150-200 in very good condition. With a dust jacket copies have sold for £3000 plus in very good condition. Depending on where you got it do check the d/j isn't a facsimile copy of the original. There are alot of these about. In 1940 it was republished as 'and then there were none' by Ddd Mead US .

Thank you for that pippincox, I had not looked at the US market, last years directory normally is more modest than internet asking prices!! But £4000 with and £500 without dust wrapper is stated for a book described with orange and red cloth stamped in black.
The Dodd and Mead item was quoted at £850 with or £75 without dust jacket. This was in boards described as beige boards stamped in orange. I know the US edition may be side tracking, but there was also a 1965 edition in wraps with the title "Ten Little Indians", issued by Pocket Books (New York). I understand it is exactly the same edition retitled.
But as you state in your reply, the amounts of money for first editions with dust jackets does cause facimile copies to be produced. Established reputable and most other sellers would describe this, but I have noted later edition imprint d/ws being added to first edition books for the unaware. This can be picked up by knowing the correct price of the true first d/w. Even so some true firsts even have price increases in mid production with a publishers sticker covering original price. (I assume when they realise they have a winner and can charge more).
But I digress. :@)
